In order to discover my #oneword for 2015, I first had to reflect upon last year. 2014 was a difficult year for me both personally and professionally. Since it was a less than stellar year, I thought, “What is it that I DO want?”
The answer: Peace

I know it sounds Cliché; Peace for the new year, but for me ‘Peace’ is not as simple as ‘getting along’.
I’m looking for:
- cooperation
- doing the right thing
- being UNselfish
- innovation
- a sense of self
- hope
- solutions
- communication
- honesty
- forgiveness
- openness
- inspiring
- inspiration
- change
I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Peace – this is the word that I will try to live each and everyday. I will try to teach my students the joy, and complexity, of peace; and I am looking forward to a peaceful year (personally).
Amen to this, Lisa. Was a difficult personal and professional year for me, too.
Here’s to a better year!
Awesome choice, Lisa. After all, we know we’ll never have world-wide peace if we can’t achieve classroom-wide or school-wide or neighborhood-wide or family-wide peace. It should be at the center of all our classrooms.
And it all begins with inner peace. Here’s to peace in 2015.
Wonderful word Lisa. Peace is such an important message that sometimes gets overlooked with the busy-world of learning.
Thanks. I agree, it’s often overlooked for more ‘trendy’ or ‘buzzwordy’ (is that even a word?) words. Sometimes the simple ones are the best.
